After leaving Agnes Water we headed for Rockhampton where we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn.

During our few days in Rockhampton we visited the privately owned and operated Capricorn Caves and the Archer Park Rail Museum. We also took a sightseeing drive to Emu Park to see the “Singing Ship” sculpture (which, unfortunately, was not in the mood for singing while we were there) and the beautiful ANZAC memorial before continuing on to Rosslyn Bay and Yeppoon.

On our last day in Rockhampton we also visited the lovely picnic and camping spots of Upper Stony and Water Park Creek in the nearby Byfield State Forest.

The car and the camper …

Not much to report except that we ordered a Thuraya SatSleeve HotSpot which we’ll collect when we get to Mackay – it’s a device we can connect a smartphone to using Wi-Fi and which will give us satellite phone capability as we head further north.
